Mount Dora hosts the Sunshine Region NMRA Spring Meet with up to 200 railroaders and spouses at Lakeside Inn for clinics auctions a model railroad contest and a visit to Sanford to view the Auto Train. Women attend a craft clinic and walking tour. Registration starts 5 p.m. Friday.
Mount Dora prepares for the 21st Lake Dora regatta with chairman E F Meri predicting a record turnout possibly surpassing last year’s 187 contestants. Two heats run Apr 6 7 with a main three mile course from Lakeside Inn to Sunset Park and a one mile pram course. Awards Sunday at Gilbert Park with Mayor Champion Yacht Club commodore Northlich and Chamber president Middleton. Pancake breakfast fundraiser 7:30 10:30 a.m. Sunday in Gilbert Park. Park Commission meets Apr 10 9 a.m. to discuss Palm Island resolution.
Mount Dora officials debated the nearly finished wastewater plant capacity as usage runs 400 000 to 540 000 gallons daily. Utilities Chairman Howard Cox warned against adding more connections while Mt Dora Growers plans would push intake by about 15 000 gallons daily. The council pressed for an assessed capacity and discussed pursuing federal funds to enlarge the facility.
The Mount Dora Community Trust issued its first Statement of Condition as of April 1 1974 showing total receipts of 16010.23 and disbursements for promotion of 670.04 leaving a fund balance of 15340.19. Assets include 14490 in securities 696.86 in savings and 153.33 in an Eagle Scout Trust Fund. An anonymous donor pledged 10000 contingent on ten or more contributors meeting equal amounts. 12 other contributions total 1290.00. The First National Bank of Mount Dora is trustee with Everett C. Stevenson secretary.
Concerned Citizens Association of Mount Dora hosts its monthly meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Bank of Mount Dora community room. Harlow Middleton, Mount Dora Chamber of Commerce president, and Karl Bolander will speak on arts and crafts. A Palm Island committee report is expected. Public invited.
