Mount Carmel police report domestic battery dispute and DUI arrests
Mount Carmel police responded to a domestic battery claim at 800 block of W 6th Street where a woman later admitted battering herself to frame her boyfriend. Mary E. Birkla 47 was charged with filing a false police report and held on a failing to appear warrant from Lawrence County. Jeffery D. McGhee 36 of Dugger Indiana was arrested for DUI after a fuel theft at Casey's Convenience Store and a vehicle stop. A 16 year old female at 1118 N Grenelefe Avenue was found consuming alcohol and processed. further charges possible. Police urge parents not to allow underage drinking parties.
