Two Men Injured in Edwards County Crash
Two local men were injured in a January 9 traffic collision in Edwards County. James E. Barnett 66 of Albion stopped at a sign on Edwards County Road 700E and was struck by a westbound 1995 International truck tractor/dump trailer driven by Mark L. Beehn 54 of West Salem. Barnett was airlifted to a hospital in Evansville Indiana Beehn transported to an area hospital by Richland County Ambulance. Authorities and agencies assisted at the scene and charges are pending.

Illinois Deer Harvest Totals Rise From 2014 Figures
Illinois reports a preliminary seven day firearm deer harvest of 86,771, up from 76,575 in 2014. The second segment totals 28,803 versus 24,745 last year, and the first segment yields 57,968 deer compared with 51,830 in 2014. Local counts note 250 total in Wabash County and 461 in Edwards County for 2015. Remaining seasons run Jan 15-17 in designated counties and Archery through Jan 17, 2016.

Griesemer waives speedy trial at pre-trial hearing
Chris tian S. Griesemer, 20, of Gibson County, waived his right to a speedy trial at a Jan 12 pre-trial hearing. His attorney said a plea deal was being considered, and more time would help examine evidence and schedule further hearings. Also named in the case are Bertis P. Hardiman II, 24, and Rontray Chavis, 23, both from Princeton Indiana, arrested in connection with a Sept 21 2015 home invasion robbery at 713 N Mulberry St.

Justin D. Koonce, 34, of Mount Carmel, appeared in court for speeding and child endangerment after a Dec. 11 stop on Wabash 17 Ave. He was cited for speeding 98 mph in a 55 zone and endangering a child, posted 200 bail, and elected to hire an attorney for the Feb. 22 hearing. He faces another Edwards County case set for 8:30 a.m. Jan. 26.
