Judge lets clerk sit on bench in Illinois probe
Chicago prosecutors probe a sitting judge Valarie Turner and law clerk Rhonda Crawford after Crawford allegedly presided over two traffic cases on August 11. Turner was taken off the bench and Crawford suspended as investigations by the Judicial Inquiry Board and Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission begin. The state's attorney's office will investigate possible crimes including false personation and ethics violations. Experts warn the conduct breaches judicial rules, though Crawford could still take the bench under supervision.
