Obituary for William Ed McCreary 1890 70
Funeral services held at Antioch Baptist Church for William Ed McCreary 70 longtime Mount Airy furniture plant employee. Burial followed at the church cemetery. He died Saturday at Northern Surry Hospital after a weeklong illness. He was born in Surry County on August 11 1890 and survived by his wife Siba and a brother.

Woman charged after Oldsmobile rear-ends another car
A 1960 Oldsmobile owned by Fred Folger Jr. was parked on North Main Street when a 1952 Oldsmobile driven by Nancy Bell Torrence struck its rear, pushing it into a rock wall. Torrence, 42, faces charges of operating a car intoxicated reckless driving and damage to property. No injuries reported.

Center Theatre Sets New Weekly Movie Schedule Policy
Center Theatre manager Richmond Gage announced a revised schedule to clarify start and end times. The plan includes a single matinee at 1 pm and two evening showings on Mondays Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7 pm and 9 pm, with exceptions for longer films.
