Silas Martin Gordon 102 of route 2 Pilot Mountain died Sunday at Northern Surry Hospital after five days of declining health. Funeral today at 2 50 PM at Volunteer Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Jesse Collins and Rev Gilmer Denny. Burial in church cemetery. Survived by three sons and numerous grandchildren and greats.

TPA Group Shows That Businessmen Do Have Heart
After Hurricane Betsy struck New Orleans, Post J Travellers Protective Association members from across the region gathered more than 150 pounds of clothing for families in need. Led by President D. T. Joyner and Secretary-Treasurer KE. F P. Pruett, volunteers packed the goods yesterday and loaded them for Frederickson Motor Express to transport to the city.

Vaughn M. Gwyn of Mount Airy was commissioned a second lieutenant after completing a 23 week Officer Candidate School course at Fort Sill Oklahoma. The training covered field artillery duties including communications electronics tactics and map reading. Gwyn entered the Army in February 1964 and plans to resume duty after a leave with his parents.

Youth Charged In Auto Mishap In Dobson
A 14 year old youth of route 2 Dobson was charged with following too closely after a minor traffic crash Saturday afternoon. Kenneth Wade Cobler 19 of route 2 Dobson was charged by the investigating officer with following too closely after rear ending Joseph Nick Atkeins 40 of route 8 Mount Airy at the North South Street Lebannon Street intersection. There were no personal injuries.
