The Mount Airy Tobacco Board of Trade hosted a Ladies Night banquet at the Blue Ridge Hotel on Friday November 18 at 6 30. One hundred twenty five attended a turkey dinner followed by musical selections. Local officials merchants and out of town tobacco company representatives were recognized for cooperation in advertising and marketing efforts.

He served two years overseas with the 207th Engineers and married Ann Hauser September 8 1946. He attended the University of North Carolina when stricken. Surviving: widow son mother siblings. Nine year old Arnold Haynes dies of rheumatic fever
Arnold Grey Haynes nine year old son of William E and Kate Blue Haynes of Mount Airy route 4 died at Martin Memorial Hospital at 1 pm last Thursday from rheumatic fever. Funeral services were held at White Plains Friends Church Saturday at 2 pm conducted by Rev Luther McPherson Rev Silas Smith and Rev Woodrow Jones. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Surviving besides the parents are three brothers William Jr Archie and Don and five sisters Agnes Betty Catherine and Ann at home and Mrs Bobby Bryant of Mount Airy. Arnold was a member of the Craidie Roll of the White Plains Friends Church.
