Surry County officials seek public works projects to employ 845 men for 90 days with more than 150000 dollars in funding. Workers on highways and civil projects will work 40 hours weekly at 30 cents per hour, with priority for relief list members active as of November 16. Elder G O Key Dies After Brief Illness at Pilot Mountain
Elder G O Key died Wednesday morning at his home in Pilot Mountain after a few days of pneumonia illness. He was 79. Funeral services were held Thursday at the Pilot Mountain Primitive Baptist church with Elders F P Stone and Geo Denny officiating. Interment followed in Pilot Cemetery. A pioneer member and longtime leader of the Primitive Baptist denomination in the region, he was widely known. Surviving relatives live in various parts of the country.

W S Haynes Dies Suddenl y at 46 in City Home
W S Haynes aged 46 died suddenly at his Willow Street home Monday morning from a heart attack. He was found by his wife before breakfast and died before aid could arrive. He was the son of the late Tom Haynes and Mrs Haynes, and was connected with his father’s warehouse business here. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the home, with Rev J M Ward and Rev Vance Price officiating, and Oakdale cemetery interment beside his father. Surviving are his mother and wife, formerly Miss Annie Hollingsworth of this city.
