Crews string lights over the Central Business District at West Lebanon Grace Rockford Worth intersections and South Main Worth crossing. Lights will shine from next Friday after the 1968 Mount Airy Christmas Parade and stay on nightly through the season. Sponsored annually by the Mount Airy Merchants Association.

The funeral for Annie Satterfield Elder 74 of 322 Pender Avenue Mount Airy is today at 2 pm at Moody Funeral Chapel. She died Wednesday at Northern Surry Hospital after a short illness. Born in Surry County she was the daughter of Thomas and Laura Moore Satterfield. Surviving are her husband C C Elder four sons Charles C Elder Jr Thomas S Elder James F Elder and Billy C Elder and one sister Rosa Ellis. Burial in Oakdale Cemetery.

Dobson Water Plant Ready for December Test Run
The Dobson water plant, delayed by labor shortages and unexpected snows, will begin a two week shake down on December 2 with engineers, architects and local staff testing valves, purification gear and pumps. The state Health Department will inspect that purified water meets standards before supply to 235 homes and 40 businesses starts mid December.
