In Franklin Toast area Dover Baptist Church hosts Rev Jack Penley of Union Hill Friends Meeting. In Flat Rock Flat Rock Baptist Church hosts Rev Jack Goodson of Flat Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church as guest speaker. Many churches will discontinue their own services to join the union gathering sponsored by the Greater Mount Airy Ministerial Association.

Four Charged With Break-In In Stokes County
Four men including an escaped convict were captured by State Highway Patrol in Stokes County Saturday morning and handed to Sheriff Hudson Graham. They face breaking and entering larceny and receiving charges for a Wednesday night burglary at Key’s Grocery in Blackwater, with nearly $300 worth of merchandise recovered from the car. The suspects were Wiloe Riley Phillips, Ronnie Darrell Brown, Robert Lee Phillips, and Davis Mikas Phillips. The oldest Phillips is an escapee from North Wilkesboro prison camp. The suspect in the escape was turned over to prison authorities. the other three are jailed in Dobson on $500 bond each.

Eldridge Rites Set Wednesday
The funeral for Paul Liewel Eldridge, 58, of 1308 Brooklyn Ave., Mount Airy, will be at 2 o'clock tomorrow at Moody Funeral Home chapel. He died yesterday in Baptist Hospital Winston-Salem after a four day stay. A native of Surry County, he was buried in Skyline Memory Gardens. Surviving include Mamie Haymoore Ficridge, one son Tommy, his mother, three brothers Floyd Gilmer and Wade, and two sisters Fearl Creasy and Bessie Watson.

Kenneth Warne griffin 14 of route Elkin died when his car went off NC 218 near Elkin and overturned while returning from night classes at Surry Community College.
