Dr. Moses Young Allen Dies After Auto Crash
Dr. Allen 68 died after a Thursday night wreck west of Mount Airy when his car plunged off an embankment. He died Friday night at Martin Memorial Hospital from injuries and a prior heart ailment. A Georgia native, he settled near Beulah on the Lon gap highway about 20 years ago. He was fondly regarded by a large circle of friends and a funeral service was held at the local church.

John L. Jackson a 51 year old farmer of Westfield died Sunday night after a summerlong illness from thrombosis. He led a large Westfield farm, was esteemed in his community, and is survived by his widow four daughters four brothers and two sisters. Sergeant E L O Nea l and Sergeant W R Davis both of Fort Bragg were injured when their car hit the concrete bridge on the highway between this city and Pilot Mountain Saturday night en route to Galax Virginia. Davis suffered a fractured kneecap and other injuries. They were taken to Martin Memorial Hospital as overnight patients and later transported to Fort Bragg by ambulance.

Young Mother and Infant Die in Martin Memorial Hospital
Mrs. Ruby Gammons aged 23 of Slate Mountain and her infant daughter died within hours of each other at Martin Memorial Hospital on Tuesday. The baby was born on Monday. Funeral services for both were held at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Mrs. Gammons, married a year ago, was daughter of Deputy Sheriff C. E. Needham of Long Hill and a longtime Sunday School teacher. Surviving are the husband, her parents, two sisters, and many relatives.
