Bloodmobile to Visit Surry County Towns This Week
The Red Cross bloodmobile will visit Pilot Mountain and Dobson in Surry County. On Thursday it will be at Pilot Mountain United Methodist Church from 10 30 am to 4 pm. Volunteers are being recruited and local groups will staff canteens and provide refreshments. Red Cross aims to collect 150 pints in each town this week.

Infant found in woods near Flat Rock awaiting autopsy
An unidentified badly decomposed infant was found Sunday evening near Flat Rock in Surry County. Deputy Mitchell Davis and Capt Bob Hiatt described a travel case hidden down an embankment 300 yards from the road, with the bottom wrapped in a blanket. Autopsy results from Chapel Hill and SBI crime lab will determine death age and cause. Mount Airy Rescue Squad and Four-Way volunteers assisted by crowd control and traffic guidance at the scene.
