Mount Airy High School holds commencement events with a large senior class of 78. Dr E M Poteat will deliver the literary address at eight o clock in the Rockford Street auditorium, with diplomas presented by Dr Moir S Martin and a program including invocations, solos, salutatory, and valedictory activities surrounding the senior class of 1936.

Senior Play Ready For Curtain Raise At Mount Airy
The Mount Airy high school presents the three act comedy Kempy with an 18 month Broadway run cited as a highlight. Cast members have rehearsed two months and a large crowd is expected for the May 20 show at 8 00 o clock. Three thousand tickets have been distributed for sale as the auditorium on Old Street anticipates a strong demand.

Brannock Dies in Akron Personal Tragedy Amid Worries
Raymond Brannock 39 son of Mr and Mrs W H Brannock died of a self inflicted bullet in Akron Ohio while at his brother in law Frank Carters home. Mental strain from illness and concerns for his 11 month old child contributed to the act. Survived by wife Beulah McRhode and two children Betty 6 and Donald Lee 11 months, plus three brothers, and his parents. Funeral plans incomplete with body to be brought home by Ed Brannock and Roy Nelson.

Chain letters ruled illegal by postal officials
The send a dime chain letters and similar enterprises have been ruled illegal under postal lottery and fraud statutes. The Mount Airy post office received a copy of the Washington Postal Bulletin stating violations and that mailers may be refused delivery for breaking postal laws.

Ashby Davis Recovering After Fort Worth Auto Crash
Ashby Davis, son of Ed Davis, is improving in a Fort Worth Texas hospital after severe injuries from an auto crash ten days ago near the city. He suffered multiple fractures and internal injuries while a car chased by a state patrolman struck him and a traffic flagman who died from a severed artery. The driver, an automobile salesman, is jailed awaiting murder charges. Davis may stay two months to aid prosecuting efforts.

They considered the former Acorn Store on South Main, discarding the initial site as unsuitable. The event June 4 to 8 will showcase wares from local plants and merchants with prizes and attractions. Death of John Nations From Tooth Infection in Dobson
John Nations aged about 61, of Route 2 Dobson died Saturday evening at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital Kin in the time stated. The illness followed an infected tooth. He leaves wife Etta Mayes Nations and eight children. Surviving siblings include sister Bunk Jones of Galax Virginia and three half sisters May Hodge Mullins and Callaway of Dobson Salisbury and Dobson.
