Pleasant Clark Brannock died Saturday at his Lebanon Street home at age 64 from heart trouble. A Grayson County native, he lived in Mount Airy about 40 years, was a deacon at First Baptist, and survived by four sons and four daughters. Funeral Monday at 4 PM from his home with Dr. R. K. Redwine officiating. interment in Oakdale cemetery.

AAA War Effort Support For Surry County Farmers
The AAA reports 1943 deliveries to Surry County farmers include twenty carloads of feed wheat with 25 more ordered and some already arrived. Limestone totals 12 000 tons with 300 tons more on order costing 2 60 per ton. Phosphate delivered totals 190 000 Ibs with 180 000 Ibs on order. Seed rye grass Austrian Winter Peas crimson clover vetch and soybeans are available again. Tobacco allotments will be mailed soon. Farmers urged to visit the AAA Office for services.

Mr and Mrs F P Sparger report their son Lt Hunk Sparger now in a Cairo Egypt hospital since February 14 after a head injury. Lt Lindsey, who visited him, says Sparger sat up talked and showed progress toward walking. Sparger served as a bombardier with nearly 300 hours of combat, earning honors on American missions.

Five Cent Cigarettes Aiding Soldiers On Front Lines
The program allows fighting men to buy cigarettes for five cents a pack with no federal tax or shipping charges. Lions Club of Mount Airy solicits subscriptions, while Pine State Knitting Mill employees donated 100 dollars to buy 2000 packs and Renfro Hosiery Mill contributed the price of 100 packs.
