H. T. Moore, a respected Copeland farmer, lies in Martin Memorial Hospital with a fractured skull after being struck by a rock thrown by his son in law, Ben Terry. The attack occurred on Moore’s meadow while he mowed hay as Terry demanded to take Moore’s eldest son. Terry fled by car and is believed to have fled toward West Virginia after the assault.

One Cent Postage On All Post Cards

Clarence BE Crist, a noted Moravian worker active in Mount Airy and mission points in Carroll and Patrick Counties, died at his home in Winston-Salem last Saturday at age 77 after years of declining health. Born March 13, 1851, he helped publish local papers and served as a lay minister at several Moravian churches, organizing Pine Chapel Sunday School two decades ago.

Prisoner El Tilley Returns to Raleigh To Serve Twenty Year Term
El Tilley, released on parole after eight years for second degree murder, is ordered back to the Raleigh state penitentiary to complete a twenty year sentence. Death of Bob McCraw in Wagon Accident Near City
Bob McCraw, about 40, was killed when his wagon was struck by an automobile driven by Ralph Golden, 22. McCraw toppled from the wagon as Golden began to pass. he died eight hours later from multiple injuries.
