Central Telephone Company lets a 137000 dollar contract to EF Yousts Inc for a 47300 square foot addition to the Mount Airy exchange building at South Main and Cherry Street. The project expands central office switching and toll facilities, with 15200 lines and 21608 terminals planned, and adds 1900 lines and 2000 terminals by October 1970.

West Lebanon teen charged in Morgantown break in
Lloyd Robert Dixon Jr., 17, of West Lebanon Street Mount Airy, was arrested about 2 a.m. Wednesday and charged with breaking and entering larceny and receiving. He is accused of breaking into Willis Furniture Company and taking a Honda Motorcycle owned by Fred Mills while in the possession of L M Willis. He was transferred to Dobson jail Wednesday morning while awaiting further charges.

Scouts Hold Arrow Rites At Camp Re ven Knob
About 30 Boy Scouts of America were tapped for the Order of the Arrow during a Wednesday night ceremony at Camp Re ven Knob. Curt Snow of Winston-Salem, Wahissa Lodge chief, led the topping before an estimated 80 spectators. Local troops attending included 506 Central United Methodist Church, 306 Shoals Rarit an Ciah, 357 Calvary Baptist Church, 329 Dobson United Methodist, and 433 Nancy Reynolds School. Roger Harpe, Dogwood district executive, noted this would be the smallest camp attendance yet, with 175 to 2000 scouts across 16 troops this week.

Jimmie Miller has been chosen as Mount Airy chair of the Cross Breed Program Committee succeeding Rev. Al Mehaffey who resigned May 30. Reinhardt and fellow committeemen welcomed Miller who will recruit donors for blood drives run by the Charlotte Red Cross Regional Blood Center. Miller plans the June 5 special visit to Mount Airy to seek 206 pints of blood. He is active in Mount Airy civic projects and former president of the Mount Airy Jaycees. He lives with his wife Mildred and child at 107 West End Drive.
