Raleigh June 7 delegates at large to the Democratic National convention were elected by the state convention. The body endorsed Gov Woodrow Wilson’s candidacy by 503 to 396 with six delegates favorable to Wilson and two neutral. Delegates have half a vote each and the convention adjourned at 6:30.
Raleigh June 6 The Democratic State convention named the ticket Governor Locke Craig Lieutenant Governor E L Daughtridge Secretary of State J Bryan Grimes State Treasurer Benjamin R Lacy State Superintendent J Y Joyner Commissioner of Labor and Printing M L Shipman State Auditor W P Wood Attorney General T W Bickett Associate Justices H Brown W A Hoke A Graham and Corporation Commissioners E H Travis and G P Pell The convention debated indorsement of Senators Simmons and Kitchin with a majority report approving the record and minority report urging voter choice.
In Villisea Iowa on June 16 authorities found Joseph Moore, his wife and three others murdered in their home. No clear suspect. motive believed to be revenge. Bloody fingerprints and a kerosene lamp found. one victim showed no struggle indication.
