Philadelphia records 16 more heat deaths raising total to 67 for the spell. Electrical storms sweep across the state as temperatures fall. In Reading two men loading hay die, a Shamokin girl dies of sunstroke, Bethlehem reports six fatalities.
A severe heat wave in Baltimore on July 6 caused 16 deaths and over twenty prostrations. The day noon temperature peaked at 95 degrees, with 30 heat related deaths since July 1.
Boston reports 103 degree highs with deadly heat continuing as seven deaths occur in Manchester New Hampshire. Electrical storms bring damage to crops and fruit trees and heavy showers sweep through the area, cooling brief relief from the excessive heat. Rutland Vermont notes renewed political rhetoric about old loyalties and Sen Hevburn’s stance on a race.
Captain R. P. Henry of Winston-Salem, chief engineer of the Salisbury and Monrose Railroad, died at Mount Pleasant at 8:16 p.m. from injuries suffered when an old barn used as refuge collapsed during a storm. His assistant and other survey party members escaped with minor injuries. Henry was 55. The body will be taken home tomorrow. Also reports on US Britain arbitration treaty progress and pending signatures between Knox and Bryce.

The sale is set for Saturday July 22 191[?] at 1:00 PM.
Patrolman E C McConnel died at 6 50 PM from a gunshot wound suffered Monday morning in Asheville. The injury occurred at the hands of a suspect named John Huff during a confrontation as the city police pursued the assailant. The case details remain under investigation by local authorities.
Seventeen battleships gather for North Atlantic drills to test New York sea door defense. Naval militia from New York and neighboring states, plus ships, torpedo boats, submarines, and an aircraft, proceed toward Gardiners Bay to simulate attack and city defense. The exercise ends July 22 with return to Provines town for summer training.
Newton July 17 Sheriff Lee Hewitt began a journey of more than one thousand miles to Georgetown Williamson county Texas to fetch Ralph Gabriel a young man of Mountain Creek township who has been indicted by the grand jury for failure to keep a promise to marry a local woman. The sheriff was directed to apprehend Gabriel.
