Gavie Vaughn of Mount Airy urged the County Board to commit to a beer and wine vote in Surry County but were rebuffed. The board refused to speculate on revenue loss or to state outcomes if such a vote were held. An off premises beer permit for Billy Grey Marion was approved while one for Ben F Callahan at Bens Grill in Dobson was disapproved. The board also addressed road petitions, restroom health concerns, a sheriff deputy bond, Good Neighbor Council nominating list, Northwest Economic Development Commission appointments, and the Mount Airy constable resignation with a Yadkinville police chief move pending. The next meeting is set for 7 p.m. July 24.
