Surry County backed Clyde Hoey in the Democratic governor primary, giving Hoey a county total of 4833 to 1897 for McDonald. Four Youths Hurt In Wreck On Pilot Mountain Highway
Four young men were badly injured when their car left the Pilot Mountain highway eight miles south of here and overturned after speeding at about 4:00 Sunday afternoon. Driver Everett Newman suffered a fractured thigh. Conrad Inman was believed to have a serious back injury. Wallace Simmons was lightly hurt. All were treated at Martin Memorial hospital.
