Cloudville Youth Killed In Wreck Near Claudville
Benny Alvin Hall 21 of Cloudville Virginia died instantly Thursday when his 1950 Ford left the road struck a stump and was hurled 77 feet onto the pavement four miles beyond Claudville in Peters Creek community. State patrolman Jack Wilkinson said Hall drove between 50 and 55 mph. His body was taken to Moody Funeral Home. He is survived by father Nath Hall mother died 1939 sisters Juanita Ruby Lorene brothers Delmer Leonard Roy and others. Funeral arrangements were pending.

Mount Airy citizens led by Mayor W F Carter and the Lions and Jaycee groups urged state officials to keep the Highway and Public Works Commission district office from moving to Elkin. A pressure campaign via telegrams and meetings prompted the division engineer to halt the transfer, preserving ten local jobs and the Mount Airy staff on site.

A local couple welcomed a seven pound daughter assisted by Jones Funeral Home in a funeral home ambulance that stopped at a service station on the Pilot Mountain by pass at 12 15 Wednesday morning en route to Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem. Harold Feddon Undergoes Surgery in Missouri
Harold Feddon owner and manager of Feddon Motor Company underwent an operation Thursday at the Missouri Clinic in Excelsior Springs. He had been ill for several days and traveled there by car with Mrs. Feddon. He is expected to stay in the hospital about two weeks before returning to Mount Airy.
