Mount Airy Theatre unveils five planned 1976 productions
The Mount Airy Community Theatre released a five show lineup for 1976 with The Boyfriend May 6–8 Barefoot in the Park June 17–19 Fiddler on the Roof August 24–28 You Cant Take It With You October 74 and a fifth title yet to be chosen. Additional events include Acting 1 January 29–30 Acting 2 February 23–24 Electric Folderol and trips to Memphis Raleigh Charlotte and Muncie for festivals and conventions. The Surry Arts Council will present a slide history to civic groups on request.

Food Stamps Up Medicaid Decreases in December
Surry County Social Services reported shifts in aid programs for December. Medically needy payments fell to about $92,000, a nearly $11,000 drop from November, while county Medicaid expenditure share declined by about $600 to $4,410. AFDC rose about $440 as caseload grew to 195. Special Assistance to Adults paid $17,588 across 123 cases, down $649 and three cases. Food Stamp outreach boosted participation to 842 households and 2,634 people, with total benefits of $98,580 and bonus coupons totaling $60,605.

Swimming Hole Shooting Ends in 30 Year Sentence
