Thieves Break In at Lowe's Mount Airy
A break in at Lowe's of Mount Airy netted about 5000 dollars in merchandise. Thieves forced open east loading doors and stole 17 color television sets, a stereo system, a stereo component, and a TV stand. Heavy tool marks suggest use of a heavy-duty screwdriver. The stolen goods were moved via a Lowe's flatbed truck to Bluemont Road and likely loaded into another vehicle before abandonment of the Lowe's truck was found on a side road.

Bloodmobile to Visit Veterans Park Tuesday
Plans have been finalized for another bloodmobile visit in Surry County led by Miss Grace Vaughn secretary of the Red Cross Chapter. The vehicle will operate Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 4 30 p.m. at Veterans Park with a special appeal for A and O negative donors while all blood types are needed to meet a six month average of 218 pints and a goal of at least 150 pints for this visit. Thirty volunteers, local doctors and nurses staff the operation with the Holly Springs Homemakers Extension Club handling the canteen.
