Miss Sallie Jeffries has sufficiently improved after an operation at Martin Memorial hospital to resume her duties in the Sallie Martha shoppe, a joint venture with Miss Martha Saunders. Her recovery was slow due to low vitality after a prior breakdown. she is aided this week by Miss Ruth Saunders while Miss Martha Saunders travels to northern markets. A son, Calvin Reynolds, was born to Mr and Mrs Lewis Norman of Fancy Gap on February 11.

Death of Samuel DeHart in Patrick County Va
Samuel DeHart son of Mr and Mrs Leander DeHart of Patrick County Va died at his home here last Friday night aged nearly thirty four years. He was a tuberculosis victim formerly employed at a local furniture factory and had lived in the state seven years. Funeral and interment were at Mountain View Church and Cemetery with Rev Crews and Rev Harris officiating. His wife Mrs Lillie DeHart survives.

Hatcher Baby Hurt In Fall On Church Street
Four year old Ida Helen Hatcher daughter of Mr and Mrs Zeb Hatcher fell on the back steps at the Hatcher apartments on Church Street Friday afternoon and cracked her collarbone. X rays showed the injury and her shoulders were placed in a cast. She will remain in bed for several weeks.

Galax Men Hurt In Auto Wreck Near Winston-Salem
Two Galax citizens suffered injuries in a Saturday auto wreck when their car sideswiped a truck near the twin city. Clarence Carlan, hospitalized at Baptist General, sustained a crushed hip and facial cuts. S. R. Stoneman, accompanying Carlan, had cuts and bruises as the car left the highway and plunged down a low embankment pinning them inside until rescued. Carlan, formerly of Lambsburg, now manages Smith Drug Co. in Galax, while Stoneman is tied to Matthews Hardware Co.
