Kernersville was visited by robbers early this morning but Mr and Mrs Dewey Mustin alerted neighbors and the bank alarm. Four men fled in a car toward Winston-Salem, pursued by officers who intercepted them. nitroglycerine and safe‑breaking tools were found in the vehicle.
Mr. Will G Lewis reports a heavy sleet event in Mount Airy with widespread damage to timber, fallen trees blocking roads, downed poles and phone wires, and disruption to rural mail routes. He notes the hard winter conditions last seventeen winters and asks for responses from mail carriers delivering by buggy or horse.
Stills seized by the Sheriff and deputies will be sold at public cash auction in front of the jail at Dobson on Monday March 6 1922 at 12 o'clock noon by order of the Board Henry Wolfe Clerk to the Board of Commissioners.
Jesse L. Armfield former president of the Bank of Thomasville jailed in Lexington after failing to raise a 175000 bond. He was arrested in Mexico City and brought to Texas then handed to Davidson County authorities. Armfield faces charges of misapplying funds over 150000. Links to Greensboro and High Point noted as relatives seek bond reduction.
North Carolina American Legion, led by State Commander Tom Byrd, explains it cannot engage in partisan politics while seeking postmaster appointments. President Harding and Postmaster General Hays will investigate alleged political influence. the department pledges to push pro ex service man policies with national backing.

Albright, lead the list, while a rival candidate failed. Battleboro faces a bid to replace Mrs. J. W. Fisher with a white Republican after a new examination set for February 11.
A bill introduced in the Virginia Senate proposes a $12 900 909 bond issue for highway construction over the next two years. The measure is endorsed by the Virginia Good Roads Association. General, DC Vaughn Jr of Franklin Va, a member of the association's executive committee, announced the proposal.
Indianapolis Feb 16 Democrats opened their campaign with Hull claiming aimlessness and inaction define the Republican era. He criticized Lodge Newberry and allied figures, assailed the arms conference as overstated, and urged a shift to Democratic governance and honest politics to curb GOP excesses and fiscal waste.
John W. Lambert of Thomasville urged Congressman Hamner to secure more money for a new Thomasville post office. An original 65 000 dollar appropriation was delayed by Treasury Secretary McAdoo for a 35 000 dollar increase, with no newer public buildings bill in sight. Thomasville Greensboro and Mt Airy await action as regular measures are pigeonholed. Lambert cites weak NC Virginia business conditions and Richmond markets, while NC real estate investors like Vanderford Penny and Millikin pursue Washington deals.
United States agents and deputy collectors will help taxpayers prepare individual and corporate income tax returns at listed locations and dates. In Lenoir February 15 17, Statesville February 16 17, Mount Airy March 1, North Wilkesboro March 2 3, and Winston Salem March 4 through 16.
