They purchased a two thirds stake in Dixie Warehouse on Worth Street from U L. The move returns the Hodges to the Mount Airy tobacco trade.

Harmon Hospitalized After Snow Shoveling Incident

Franklin Fire Unit Sets Yearly Membership Drive
Franklin Volunteer Fire Department launches its annual membership drive with dues due April 1. Members can pay at Toast or at the fire station Saturdays 6 to 9 PM during March. The department, with about $32,000 in equipment and $5,000 outstanding, aims to pay off the debt this year. Since starting operation on April 1, it answered 12 fire calls, saving about $920,810 in potential losses and confining losses to $210,665. Re Activated 7 30 Club Works On Membership
The 7 30 Club of the Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce held its first meeting since being re activated yesterday at the Biu Vue Restaurant. Jim Vaughn vice president was named chairman and the group will follow up its campaign for new members from last fall which enrolled 129 new members and raised over 5000 in dues. The current chamber membership is about 320. The club will meet each Thursday for four weeks.
