Surry County to Cut 242 CWA Jobs in Highway Projects
North Carolina scales back CWA payroll by 242 in Surry County to 576 workers next week. The Dobson meeting chose to discontinue highway projects White Plains Copeland Shoals and others, with reductions at 10 percent weekly until May 1. Shoe Tack Removed From Throat in Repair Shop Incident
J B Harrold shoe repairer on Main Street sucked a tack into his throat while at work. He was advised by a local doctor to seek Dr Cooke, a throat specialist in Winston Salem. The tack was located with a bronchial ray machine and removed with no ill effects.
