Registrar to register voters at Toast next week
Mrs. Marge Folger, secretary of the Surry County Board of Elections, will register voters at Franklin School in Toast on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday 9 am to 4 30 pm Monday 10 30 am to 6 pm Tuesday and Wednesday. Voters may also register at the Dobson Courthouse office. May 2 primary deadline is April 3 to have names on the books. Books will close and stay closed until after the primary and will not be at precincts on four Saturdays before May 2.

Long Pays Fee For Judge Race In 17th District
James M Long of Yanceyville paid the 222 fee to the State Board of Elections in Raleigh to seek the Democratic nomination May 2 for Superior Court judge in the 17th District. He would succeed the late Allen H Gwyn who’s unexpired term ends Dec 31. Long follows Charles M Neaves of Elkin who served a brief appointment and returns to private practice. Neaves was district solicitor for 13 years. Long was sworn in as judge of the district that includes Surry Stokes Rockingham and Caswell.

Bannertown VFD Receives Donations for Brush Buggy Fund

Winston-Salem attorney James G. White announces as a Democratic candidate for the Fifth Congressional District. White, the only Democrat已 to enter opposition to Rep.
