Wreck on Lover's Lane Injures Two
At about 6 20 p m Sunday on Lover's Lane a 1961 Ford driven by Carson A Jones failed to negotiate a curve and flipped into a drive way ditch. Jones suffered minor injuries while passenger Harvey Dowell endured a fractured skull and other head injuries and was hospitalized in Winston Salem. Patrolman Josh Howell investigated the wreck.

Richard Coe 75 retired farmer of Dobson route 2 died unexpectedly after a heart attack at his home and passed away at Elkin hospital. He was born April 11, 1880 in Surry County and lived there his entire life. Survived by son Willie and five daughters and two sisters. Funeral at Salem Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.

A 1950 Chevrolet stolen Thursday evening from Jack Gaddy Chevrolet was found Saturday. Mount Airy police said the wrecked car was stored at Grady Motor Company and the driver was arrested for driving drunk.

He and his brother ran a Little Richmond general store and helped build Boonville Roller Mill in 1908. He owned a farm since 1920.
