North Surry High School will stage Anton Chekhovs The Brute and William Saroyans Hello Out There as a double bill on Saturday February 21 at Mount Airy Fine Arts Center. Lauratown Mountain Vineyards based in Rural Hall promotes grape production in the Piedmont. The firm, already planting in Guilford, Stokes and Forsyth counties, spoke at the Carolina Virginia Fruit School about costs 600 dollars per acre to start a vineyard and a 100 percent production potential after three years with 2 to 4 tons per acre yields. They seek several five acre plantings and will have extension staff assist.

Inman funeral held for Arthur Inman 71
Funeral services were held yesterday at 2 PM at Red Bank Primitive Baptist Church for Arthur Inman 71 of Westfields Cloudville Virginia who died Tuesday at home. Born in Patrick County he was a retired farmer. Survivors include wife Nora Jones Inman two daughters Mrs Michelle Martinsville and Mrs Howard Cole Westfield and four sons Andy Russell Akers Martinsville and John Inman Westfield. Burial followed in Inman family cemetery near the home.

Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church near Mount Airy will hold an Appreciation Day at 3 pm Sunday honoring Mrs. Manervia Cox 90 of Westfield. Rev O J Hatcher will lead ceremonies. Cox, mother of 14 with 66 grandchildren 125 great grandchildren and 22 great great grandchildren is known as Mother Cox and has long served as teacher and leader. The event coincides with her 61st birthday.
