In Mount Airy, a 16 year old Pulaski youth, Donald Edwards, received six months for assault with a deadly weapon and four months for concealed weapon after shooting at a policeman at a bus station. Jesse Marshall, 24, White Plains, released on bond faced murder charges for shooting William Rucker Thomas. coroner Fletcher Harris ordered Marshall held for trial with $2,000 bond.

E A Hiatt Dies In Wreck Near Mount Airy
Ephraim A. Hiatt 64 of Mount Airy route 1 was killed when his car collided with a Greyhound bus on Highway 52 near the Bright Leaf Drive In Theatre. Arnold Goins 13 was seriously injured. Sarah Simmons and Flossie Smith on the bus sustained minor injuries. Funeral services were held at 2 pm Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Sheltontown.

Patrolman Locates Stolen Virginia Automobile
Patrolman J P Rhyne found a car stuck in a Pipers Gap Road field Monday reported stolen from Pulaski Virginia. Two men Fred Berrier and Fred Payne of Mount Airy are jailed on theft and drunk and disorderly charges. Federal warrants are said to exist for both suspects. A Pulaski police check tied a North Carolina licensed truck found there to James V Lewis of Mount Airy.
