Shell Gas Has Mammoth Trucks
Two enormous gasoline tankers from Quality Oils Inc Shell dealers tour the country serving their network. Each truck carries 4000 gallons, uses an eight cylinder engine and 18 tires, with aluminum tanks to reduce weight. After visiting service stations, the trucks will distribute fuel from Wilmington to central territory points.

Cow falls from bluff after crossing ice in White Plains
J Guerney Brintle of White Plains reported losing a fine cow last Thursday. The cow wandered onto an icy bluff while water time near her pasture. She fell eighteen feet, breaking both hind legs and neck. Brintle valued the cow at fifty dollars.

Funeral for Boonville Hotel Angeli operator Angell
Mr Madison Monroe Angell died at his Boonville home after a long illness. The lifelong Boonville resident ran the Hotel Angeli for years. Funeral services were at Boonville Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife Bertha Koontz Angell, five daughters including Mrs A L Bunker and Miss Ola Angell, three sons, eleven grandchildren, a sister and a brother.

City Airport Plans Ready To Go Before Officials
Mayor Ashby and City Engineer W D Merritt near completion of the city airport plans. They will travel to Raleigh Friday to present data to PWA officials. The site on Pilot Mountain highway three miles from town will exchange watershed land for the tract. Two runways 2000 by 500 feet will require about two hundred thousand cubic yards of dirt moved. Estimated grading and structures total about $100,000. the city provides the land.

Baby dies in house fire near Boonville
Fire destroyed the home of Mr. and Mrs. Evan Sparks near Boonville. Their six month old infant perished in the flames after the mother briefly left the home. The fire’s origin is unknown.

Davis Filling Station Robbed at Bannertown
Seldon Davis at Bannertown reported a Tuesday night break in the filling station. Robbers took about $5 from the register and a slot machine, later found near Buck Shoals smashed with money and checks missing. Front door glass and lock were damaged. tobacco logs were left behind. no clues.

Patrick Officers Investigate Murder Near Stuart Va
Commonwealth Attorney Frank P Burton and Constable Joe Prance spent the day in Stuart examining the murder of Mose Owens. Roy Cook, held in Stuart jail, is charged and slated for trial at the March term. Owens and Cook were neighbors near Westfield and were together the night Owens was shot in the head and died before hospital arrival. Cook had claimed Owens killed himself, but investigators found the wound suggests homicide, and Cook denied knowledge of the crime, saying he was drunk and cannot recall events.
