Census takers will begin in Surry County within days to collect farm data. John R. Hall of Greensboro names district supervisors and 15 enumerators across 13 townships including Elkin, Shoals, and Rockford. Each farm entry earns a 25 cent listing fee, and the process spans about eight weeks.

The board deferred action to the next meeting, asking the county attorney to inspect the bills, while a Raleigh inquiry confirmed no state or county liability for negligence. Dobson Youth Fatally Injured In Wreck Near Fish River
Jasper White aged about 16, son of J A White of Dobson, died at Martin Hospital from a fractured skull and internal injuries after a car wreck early Sunday near Fish River hill on the Dobson road. Three other youths, Sid Marion Max Woodruff and Ben Folger survived with injuries. Marion was driving at the time of the crash.
