Fine Arts Gears Up For 1973 Campaign

Collision on Renfro Street injures driver and passenger
Barbara George Lawson 41 of Mount Airy attempted a turn onto Hamburg Street while traveling north on Renfro Street at about 6:50 am Friday. Her Ford crossed the path of a southbound 1965 Chevrolet driven by Raymond Baxter Rogers 31 of Mount Airy. Rogers was hospitalized. damage totaled about 1650 dollars. Lawson was charged with unsafe movement in traffic.

Father seeks missing daughter after marijuana raid near Mount Airy
An area father, told by sheriffs of eight arrests in a marijuana raid near Mount Airy on Friday night, went with deputies to a trailer in Dobson to learn if his high year old daughter was among those arrested. She was not, but officers found the girl living with a young man at the trailer and a marijuana pipe with marijuana in the trailer. Investigators continue to determine possible charges.

Two autos collided at the Cenfre Church intersection around 30 pm Thursday causing heavy property damage but no serious injuries. Barbara Finney Taylor of 1028 Willow Street drove a 1972 Toyota south on Kenfre Street. Roger Dale Burkhart, 22, of 925 Stanley Head drove a 1967 Pontiac east on Church Street. Damages estimated at 1250 dollars. L. D. Bowman charged the Taylor woman with failure to yield the right of way.
