Dr H L Robertson a Cliffside dentist died from injuries suffered in a Dobson automobile crash on January 9 at Martin Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held at White Plains Friends Church with burial in the church cemetery. Born November 24 1897 in White Plains he was a Guilford College and Atlanta Dental School graduate active in local civic and church groups and a Mason and Shiner. He retired last year due to ill health and lived with his mother. Pallbearers included W W Christian Charles Robertson Jimmy Miller Grady Nichols Dr W A Clayton and Dr J J Hunt.

John Taylor Mitchell Dies at 72 in Virginia
John Taylor Mitchell of Arerat Virginia died Thursday at Martin Memorial Hospital after a month long illness, aged 72. Born June 19, 1877 in Mount Airy he was son of William C. and Lacy T. Mitchell. Funeral services were held Saturday at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. D. S. McCarty, burial in Oakdale Cemetery. Surviving are son William T. Mitchell of Mount Airy, daughter Ming Evelyn Mitchell of Greensboro, a grandchild, and three sisters Mrs C. M. Edwards Orson of Roanoke and Mrs A. A. Dunkley of Stuart Virginia.

Funeral services were at White Plains Baptist Church at 2 p m Saturday with Rev Carl Lackey assisted by Revs J H Daniels and Boyd C Winn. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Survivors include two sons Joseph L and Robert Johnson both of Mount Airy.

Bridge Planned Over Parkway Crossing North of Mount Airy
The Galax Chamber of Commerce reports a bridge crossing over the Blue Ridge Parkway on Highway 80 will be planned this year. Bids will be sought for the cross over spanning the parkway and a creek, with construction expected to take months amid steel supply delays. Virginia highway officials also plan paving the Lambsburg road to connect Mount Airy to Galax via Lambsburg.
