Prohibition talks and editorial shifts in Mount Airy
Mount Airy townsfolk discuss city attorney W F Carter drafting resolutions on liquor under new prohibition with a Friday night meeting to adopt them. The One-time Weekly Leader merges into the Blue Ridge Daily Breeze, with debate on sustaining a daily paper in town amid merchant indifference to advertising. The Wilson Times urges tobacco belt farmers to reorganize against the trust, suggesting crop shifts to corn and more hogs to reduce debt and dependence. Elbert Hubbard quotation and local society notes follow, including a dissolution of Graves and Felger and office moves for Graves and Folger as of December 1, 1903.
