The Threatte family of Dobson escaped costly treatment after their pet cat scratched children and Mr. Threatte who later died from an unknown cause. The head was sent to Raleigh to test for rabies, but officials reported no hydrophobia and no treatment was needed.

Court Clerk Is Big Hog Raiser in Surry County
F T Llewellyn the popular court clerk of Surry County raises hogs on a farm west of Dobson. He killed a 438 pound porker at nine months. Joe M Mays and W O Elliott report large hogs as part of the county big hog contest with $25 prizes to winners. Mrs Ethel Turner visited Mrs Harvey Smith.

Center Theatre To Host Benefit Food Matinee

Mr. Malbert Davis directs a crew this week at the Cherry Apartments damaged by fire. He plans to offer the lot for sale this winter and may build a brick apartment next spring if unsold. Bernard Harrison Rector died Monday in a Miami hospital after illness. He was fifty, born in Baltimore, lived in the South, a Wyandotte Co. salesman. Patrick County Deputy Killed in Moonshine Raid Ambush
Patrick County deputy Walter Willis, 64, was shot in the right side as he raided a mountain moonshine distillery near Willis Gap, eight miles from Mount Airy. He walked three quarters of a mile to a home before dying. Investigations led to multiple arrests, indictments for murder and distillery operation, and evidence recovered at the scene.
