The Fletcher family of White Plains learns their son Pfc. Donald E Fletcher, 20, was killed on patrol near Da Nang while serving with the 1st Marine Division. He joined in 1968 after training at Parris Island Camp Lejeune and Camp Pendleton. Surviving are his parents two brothers two sisters and two widowed siblings. Moody Funeral Home Mount Airy to receive remains.

Most of the increase funds capital outlay for added court facilities as the county prepares for the statewide court system in 1970. They studied two courthouse enlargement plans but have not chosen a final option. The extra money came after talks with state officials, raising the capi tal outlay tax rate from 0702 to 0.72.
