Officers Recover Car Stolen From Local Tobacco Buyer
Sheriff Patterson and Deputy Rex Tilley followed a tip and recovered a car stolen by a soldier about 1 a.m. Monday night in the city. The vehicle was found after it was reported missing by John Stokes, a tobacco buyer. Police parked the car at the station and did not awaken the owner. Stokes checked the office the next morning and found the car under guard.

Dobson Criminal Court Adjourns After Busy April Term
April term of the Dobson criminal court adjourned after disposing of key cases including the Arlis Weddle robbery involving Jasper Jones and McCoy. Judge Clement sentenced Jones to 7 to 10 years after Jones pleaded guilty. McCoy implicated him and testified. The grand jury praised jail and courthouse upkeep and urged a 12 month term. Other outcomes included Grace Patterson manslaughter denial, Malory Patterson death, and sentences for Rastus Stanley and Coy Easter in pistol and assault cases.
