Gasoline Truck Explodes After Overturn in Bannertown
Zeno Mason of Winston-Salem suffered severe burns to his chest leg and hands when a Quality Oil gasoline truck overturned on an embankment near Bannertown and exploded. The late model Reo truck carried over 4000 gallons of gasoline. Firefighters failed to control the blaze and the driver was hospitalized for weeks as investigators blamed a steering mechanism fault for the loss of control.

East Poplar Home Burns in Sudden Fire
Fire destroyed the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Bowman on East Poplar Street after a 1:30 Tuesday night blaze of unknown origin. Youthly Injured After Banister Fall at Rockford Street School
Leonard Hauser, son of Tom Hauser, fell from a second story banister at Rockford Street School last Tuesday. He was hospitalized unconscious with possible brain injury though skull X rays showed no fracture. Two other fourth grade pupils were nearby as he slid down and toppled to the first floor.
