Attempted death by own action near Elkin Jonesville bridge
Mr. Scales Holcomb aged 63 a resident of Jonesville attempted death by own action Tuesday morning by jumping into the Yadkin river near the Elkin and Jonesville bridge. He was rescued when Pinkney Jones who owns a store near the bridge threw him a stick and pulled him out. Holcomb had been in declining health for months and this was given as the reason for the act.
