Surry Farmer Takes Own Life at Home
Robert Harrison Lawson, 45, a tenant farmer on Henry Lawrence's Dobson Beulah road farm, died after injuring himself with a rifle. He died at Martin Memorial Hospital about five hours after family found him in a second floor bedroom. Survived by a wife and seven children ages two to thirteen, plus two brothers and three sisters. Funeral at Little Mountain Baptist Church with burial in the family cemetery.

Two Ararat Youths Killed In Auto Crash
Two 17 year old Copeland High seniors Alten Gray Bryant and James Howard Watson died when their car overturned on the Pilot Mountain Fairview road near Leve l Friday night. Wayne Mosley survived with minor injuries and was treated at a hospital. Watson’s mother learned of the tragedy Saturday as she dealt with the birth of another child.
