Ranger Eddie Rose of the NC Forest Service said a fire on Blue Ridge Parkway land near the North Carolina Virginia line burned 106 acres of woodland. Third Special Olympics for the Handicapped in Mount Airy
The third annual Special Olympics for the handicapped will be held Saturday April 24 at Mount Airy High School athletic field. David Hawkins of the Mount Airy Jaycees says over 40 participants are expected, the largest turnout yet. Events start at 10 am with dashes, throws, jumps and a basketball toss.
