Mount Airy considers applying for about 500000 in Housing and Urban Development funds to extend Dixie Street to Rockford Street and to run Market Street to Virginia Street as part of the Thoroughfare Plan. Slate Motor Co. held a groundbreaking Thursday for a new NC 601 showroom to house one of North Carolina’s finest Chrysler Plymouth GMC Truck dealerships. Grady Slate announced Blue Ridge Industries will build, with an August 1 opening. the brick steel complex features a carpeted showroom for 16 cars, 28 service bays, and a body shop on a 300 by 400 foot lot beyond Scenic Motors. Red Cross Bloodmobile Visits Planned for Mount Airy
The Red Cross Bloodmobile will visit Mount Airy on April 26 and 27 at Veterans Memorial Park with hours 11 a.m. to 4 30 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. to 3 30 p.m. Friday. Organizers aim to collect at least 300 pints over the two days as county needs rise and donors are urged from all groups.
