Jacob Hall Tries To Out Run Local Police Officer
Jacob Hall 21 fled a speeding arrest in a high speed chase on South Main Street. His car collided with a police cruiser in the Bannertown area, rolled over, and was demolished. Hall was jailed on reckless and drunken driving and prohibition violations after a $1,000 bond.

Pastor Killed As Train Strikes Car
Rev. Edward M. Graham aged 49 died from injuries after his car was struck by a railway train at a grade crossing near Lenoir on Sunday. Mrs. Graham was in the car and reported improved after a concussion and injuries at a Lenoir hospital. He was pastor of Hudson Methodist Church and former pastor at Rockford Street in Mount Airy. Surviving are his wife, son Robert Graham of Charlotte, and two daughters Mrs. R. L. Phillips and Mrs. John Cade. Funeral services were in Hudson with burial in Charlotte.

Easter Fires Ravage Mount Airy District Totaling Over 12000
Mount Airy endured four Easter fires causing more than 12000 in damage. A grass fire at Barber Hosiery Mills on South Street preceded ruin at Willow Street Grocery, owned by John E. Scott, who reported 7000 in losses with 4000 insured. The Bryant home on Galloway Street and the Ann Barker residence on Ayers Alley also suffered damage as community members offered aid.

Man Charged With Assault Attempts Suicide After Drinking Disinfectant
Gilbert Bowman a 33 year old of 152 North Main Street was arrested by Chief Monte Boone and Deputy Roy Smith after he tried to drink a bottle of disinfectant in his home Saturday morning. He was treated at the local hospital and later taken to city jail. He is charged with assaulting his wife Mrs Irene Bowman.

Eight Month Old Dies After Boiling Water Scald
Jimmie Ray Snow eight months old son of James and Ira Mae Snow of Rockford Street was scalded Monday morning when boiling water spilled from a kitchen stove. He died hours later at Martin Memorial Hospital. Survived by parents two brothers Leroy and Robert Snow two sisters Alma and Jo Ann Snow and maternal grandmother Mrs Birdie Stanley. A newlywed couple Mr and Mrs David Marrash were on a short honeymoon trip in Baltimore when their decorated auto brakes failed and it crashed into a street car after traveling about eight blocks. The groom sustained a lacerated chin and bruised ribs while the bride suffered a fractured nose. The car was completely demolished.
