Numbered century witness Jordan Snow marks 100th birthday
Patrick County Virginia native Jordan Hall Snow celebrated his 100th birthday at his home near Copeland with 500 relatives and friends. Attendees heard talks on long life, his Civil War experiences, and his life story from his youth in Patrick, Stokes, and Yadkin counties to Dobson. Snow recalled serving in the 28th Infantry, being wounded at Gettysburg, and spending 11 months as a prisoner at Fort Delaware. He has 10 children, 32 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren, and his son C. B. Snow lives with him.

Two Children Hurled By Cars In Separate Accidents
A small boy from Will Branch was seriously injured when struck by J H Johnson’s car on Willow Street after allegedly darting into the road. In Cana Virginia a three year old girl, visiting with her mother and grandfather, was struck by A V West’s car before Hylton’s bookstore. The child suffered a badly fractured skull but regained consciousness. no blame was placed on the driver as the incidents appeared unavoidable.

District Meeting Juniors Largely Attended Here

Stokes Youths Sentenced for Murder in Second Degree
Otis Campbell age 20 Louis Shepherd 17 and Glenn Rhodes 17 were found guilty of second degree murder in the January killing of Nettice Burkheart in Stokes County. A Winston-Salem judge sentenced each to 25 to 36 years hard labor at the state prison amid courtroom tears and agitation.
