Trail Drivers Memorial to Honor Texas Cattle Trail Pioneers
In San Antonio a $100,000 memorial to trail drivers is planned with $50,000 raised locally and $50,000 to come from statewide contributions. Sculptor Borglum of Stone Mountain fame leads the project, honoring the Old Trail Drivers who moved 9,800,000 cattle and 1,000,000 horses along the Chisholm trail and beyond. The effort extends from the Old Trail Drivers Association linked to the Texas Cattle Raisers and features a related book, The Trail Drivers of Texas, compiling their stories.
