Warns Motorists To Watch For Kids On Streets

The AAA Motor Club of Iowa urged drivers to be cautious as schools open, noting 14 percent of pedestrian deaths involve school children. A safety poster titled School's Open Drive Carefully will be distributed nationwide, designed by Clement McGuire, a 11 year old student in Philadelphia, and featured by local clubs affiliated with the AAA.

Special Election Planned to Sell School District Land

Notice to qualified voters in the Moulton-Odell district that a special election will be held September 12, 1960 from 12:00 noon to 7:30 PM at Town Hall Moulton Appanoose County Iowa to decide if the South half of the Southwest fractional quarter Section 30 Township 68 Range 15 85 acres more or less in Davis County Iowa should be sold. Bids may be sealed with right to reject any bid, and proceeds to General Fund for lawful district use. Fay Anselme, Secretary.

Clifford I Foster Named on FHA Committee

Clifford I Foster of Mystic Route 1 has been appointed to the Appanoose County Farmers Home Administration committee. The 3 member panel, with D Dean Schlapia, helps guide farm credit services for local farmers. Frank M McCabe and JL Trenton McFall also serve. McCabe becomes chairman for the 1961 fiscal year. Foster succeeds E Glenn Bailey whose 3 year term expired.

Scurlock Reunion Held in Trenton Mo

The 28th annual Scurlock reunion was held in Trenton Missouri park on Sunday August 28 with attendees reporting a fine time. The business meeting led by Junior Scurlock approved last reunion minutes and gifted the youngest and oldest attendees and the largest family. Orlin Scurlock was elected chairman for the 24th reunion with John Scurlock as vice chair and Marguerite reappointed secretary treasurer. Numerous Scurlock relatives from Ottumwa Centerville Bloomfield Glenwood Downing Braymer and more attended plus several distance prizes awarded.

Frank Bennett returned home after a California trip with Bert King of Sioux City. Lester Murdy and wife spent weekend in Manchester with daughter family the Yeagers. Agnes Burkland underwent.

Local residents share holiday visits and recoveries

A tonislectomy last Thursday at Centerville hospital left the patient recuperating at home. Mrs. Josie Stuckey spent time at the B A Caylor home while Mrs. McCoy stayed in Louilla. Frank Strear party traveled to Lake Walker Minnesota with Victor Sticar of Des Moines. Frankie Sticar and Clinton family visitors stayed with Frank Sticar and Mrs. Paul Hinton. Wayne Weber returned from Arvada Colorado after summer work. Howard Minks and Grandma Minks of Centerville with Harold Exline of Seymour visited Ilah Morris. Karen Moore and Maema Southwick of Mexico Missouri stayed with Joe Moore and family. they were taken to Mexico and stayed at Woodrow Duty home.

Exline Area Weekend Visits and Local Gatherings

Exline and nearby residents spent weekends visiting relatives and friends across Iowa and Illinois.
