Ronald Paul Smith, born October 22, 1941, is named senior of the week. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Paul Smith and attended Odell for three years. His subjects include biology agriculture modern problems and advanced algebra and trigonometry. His activities cover basketball four years baseball four years usher at Baccalaureate junior class play mixed chorus one year band one year and Future Farmers of America one year.

He studies Modern Problems senior shop agriculture and English and has participated in ball two years baseball one year band one year and Future Farmers of America three years serving as treasurer and vice president. His goal is to be a farmer.

Seventh Grade Moult on Class Open House Thanks

The seventh grade thanks parents who visited during open house while noting others were unable to visit due to lights. Students share progress in geometry tools like compass and protractor and announce a trip with Eighth grade to Amana Colonies and Pella on May 12 to observe local life and the washing of the streets ceremony.

G M C Club Holds Guest Day Meeting

The G M C Club met with Bessie McDade on April 26 for a Guest Day gathering with nine guests and all members. The program included poems songs and readings. gifts were given to the oldest and youngest mothers and guests. Next meeting is the anniversary event at Daisy Moulton’s on May 17 with a roll call prompt.

New Hope 4-H Club Holds May Meeting

The New Hope 4-H Club met May 2, 1960 at An nette Tharp's home with President Sara Stevenson presiding. Members and leaders attended. A new club flag was approved. Carol Tharp was chosen as delegate to the State 4-H Convention at Iowa State University in June. Discussions covered County Rally Night and County Camp at Madrid, Iowa. Lois Harris and Sara Stevenson demonstrated angel food cake. The next meeting will be with Lois Harris on June 9. Sandra Stevenson Reporter

The 5th District Spring Conference will be at Oskaloosa May 16 with delegates Hazel Casady Geraldine Freeborn and Marie Davison and delegates at large Nanna Mikels and Mona Howard. Visitors welcome and a church outreach slogan ends the piece.

W. W. Club Meeting at Morrow Home

Eight members of the W. W. Club met May 4 at Mrs. Mamie Morrow’s home for the monthly gathering. A co op dinner and visiting time preceded the program. Gail received the Mystery box. prizes were awarded to all. The next meeting is the August picnic at Centerville park with families.

Former Ottumwans Hurt in Car Crash

Wray A Stober 33 and Mrs Wray Stober 35 formerly Ottumwa now of 258 Gray Plaza Scott Air Force Base Belleville Illinois were injured in a two car crash last Sunday about 10 p m near the air base Their car was struck broad side by a car driven by William P Schoen also of Belleville He was injured The driver of the Stober vehicle was Sgt Robert D Charlotte of Scott Air Force Base He and his wife were injured Mrs Stober suffered head and leg bruises Mr Stober had both legs broken Mrs Lucille Woodruff and Mrs Clifford Nichols called to Belleville to aid the family.
