The Rev. Banks Doggett Jr was returned to the Moulton Methodist pulpit by the South Iowa Methodist Conference in session at Indianola. He will also serve Unionville and Exline for the coming year. The conference approved a $2 200 000 capital funds program for 1970 and adopted social issue resolutions including liquor by the drink referendum with local option. Atlantic city will provide a site and raise 100 000 to launch the aging work. Two new district superintendents were appointed and the conference reported 139 155 members in 487 churches contributed nearly 6 million to church causes.

Death of John Cochran 91 A Moulton Resident
John Cochran 91 longtime Moulton resident died at his home yesterday at 10:00 am from complications of diseases. Born September 21 1868 in Randolph county Missouri he moved to Appanoose County as a child and stayed. He married Orpha Morrow on May 12 1912 and had two children James and Mildred Cochran both of Moulton. Surviving: two brothers Allan of Plano and Bea of Los Angeles one sister Janie Terry of Exline. He worked 17 years as rural mail carrier at Dean then with Wabash Railroad until his 1940 retirement. Funeral Friday at Eagle Funeral Home 1:30 pm conducted by Rev Henry Fritz with burial at Sunset View Cemetery north of Moulton.

The Democrat and Republican parties of Appanoose will hold county conventions in Centerville on Saturday July 2. Democrats meet at the Community Center at 10:00 a m with no contested offices. Republicans meet in the court room at the courthouse at 10:00 a m to select delegates to the state convention and name a candidate for U S Senator. Falls From Ladder Breaks Right Leg
Mrs. Herman Tiffany suffered a serious accident at home while cherry picking on a ladder. She fell and broke both bones of her right leg below the knee, was taken to a hospital, and is now resting at 3601 S Eighth Street in Des Moines.

Mrs. Swarts, 73, Dies After Long Illness in Centerville
Mrs. Wm. Swarts, 73, died at Golden Age Nursing Home Centerville Tuesday night after a long illness. Born near Moulton to D. H. and Linda Robbins, she married Wm. Swarts who survives. Surviving children include Mrs. Eva Pratt Edith Howard of Moulton Helen Kirkland of Mystic and sons Raymond Robert Charles and Russell. Also 22 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. The Hermas Swarts coin wash opened last Saturday attracting nearly 300 residents who came to greet Mr Swarts and see the modern automatic laundry at work. The facility promises hot soft water soap and materials to make clothes white as snow. A filtering plant operates until a deep well is finished with free coffee and doughnuts served to visitors.

Church of God Holiness builds new meeting place amid challenges
Gene Horn leads the Church of God Holiness through slow carpentry progress for a 30 by 50 foot sanctuary with two rest rooms and acoustical tile ceiling. Despite limited help and weather delays, initial $3500 cash on hand grew with donations as plans by Horn and Earl Horn were carried out without outside hire. The project, started to host a camp meeting, demonstrates community effort and determination.
